Equality

We are committed to ensuring equality of opportunity for all children. Our aim is to provide the highest possible standards of education and enable all children to achieve their full potential. We aim to treat all people fairly and strive to eliminate discrimination wherever it might exist.

Discrimination against any of the protected characteristics is unacceptable at Crigglestone and The Castle Nursery Schools. Protected groups, as detailed in the Equality Act (2010), includes race, disability, gender, gender re-assignment, age, pregnancy and maternity, marital status, religion and belief and sexual orientation. All staff, governors and pupils understand the importance of having respect for every individual.  Our focus is to educate, develop and prepare all our pupils for life in a diverse society.

In all of our practice, we adhere to the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) through which we are required to set equality objectives to eliminate discrimination, advance equality of opportunity and foster good relations between our different stakeholders.
